What Exactly Is A Mexican Cowboy?
For those who are not familiar with our Mexican Cowboy Dumplings; they are a mixture of beef and pork mince, Mexican spices, pickled Jalapeños and twenty four month aged vintage cheddar cheese. The filling is wrapped by hand into gow gee pastry and then the dumplings are pan cooked to crispy perfection.
While the odd person can't accept the cultural fusion or 'cheese in a dumpling', many others have tried them once and became instant fans and cult followers of The Mexican Cowboy!
How Did Mama Create The Cowboy?
It was circa 2022 when Dumpling Mama's partner cooked tacos for the family at home. He liberally grated vintage cheddar cheese onto them and when Mama tasted the combo she instantly thought bubbled her next dumpling special, the Mexican Cowboy was born.
When Mama launched The Cowboy at what was The Wanderlust Bar back in 2022, the response was resounding, The Cowboy hit the mark as it was built on flavours that people knew but with a metamorphosis into a dumpling and something completely different. The Cowboy was so popular that is has remained as a menu staple ever since.
How Will The Great Mexican Cowboy Eating Competition Work?
The competition will run in heats and contestants must consume six Mexican Cowboy Dumplings and scull a cup of water in each round. The fasted finishers will progress through to the next rounds of the competition where they will be met with ever increasingly spicy Cowboy Dumplings and even faster gobbling competitors.
Entries will be capped at fifty contestants.
First place cash and prizes value of $300, Second place $150, Third place $100 and Fourth place $50.
During the competition the kitchen will remain open for soups, sides and salads. After the competition concludes the full menu will be available again.
